(12) . Duke Street. In 1887 the widening of Duke Street on the North East side
exposed a long stretch of the Roman wall. It lay partly beneath the footway of
the old street and partly beneath the frontage of the demolished houses. Loftus
Brock described the wall as being similar to the normal type of the structure as
in Camomile Street, but no exact particulars are given.
